Background
The 8282 model is testament to the particularly refined vocabulary developed by Alain Richard for Disderot: a structure reduced to the essential, a rigorous design and a light integrated into the architecture of the object. The pendant light is documented in the 1980 Disderot trade catalogue.

Biography
Alain Richard was a French designer and interior architect born in 1926 and who died in 2017. A pupil of René Gabriel at the École nationale supérieure des Arts décoratifs, he graduated top of his class in 1949 and then founded his agency in 1952 with Jacqueline Iribe. He designed furniture and lighting for Meubles TV, Disderot and the Mobilier National, whilst also undertaking numerous public interior design projects. His work is distinguished by a constant pursuit of simplicity, proportion and functionality.
