During Fine Arts Paris, from 19 to 23 September 2026, Demisch Danant presented “Eviradnus” at the Grand Palais. The selection brought late nineteenth-century decorative arts into dialogue with twentieth-century French design, without reducing them to a simple succession of styles.

The folding chair designed by Hector Guimard in 1889 for the Humbert de Romans concert hall and Michel Boyer’s Brasília lamp, dated 1974, marked two poles of the display. In Guimard’s work, the organic line follows the chair’s structure and movement. In Boyer’s, precise geometry gives the lamp an almost architectural presence. Their juxtaposition shows how functional objects can also become vehicles for exploring form, materials and space.

For DIZAGN, this dialogue reveals an essential continuity in the history of furniture: the ambition to go beyond function without losing sight of the object itself. It also invites us to consider each piece within the context of its commission, production and presentation, rather than as an isolated image.
