Do you own a piece of Breton furniture that needs to be identified, valued, or sold? Based in Brest, Thibault Lannuzel, founder of DIZAGN, studies 20th-century Breton furniture, with a particular focus on the Seiz Breur movement and the revival of regional decorative arts.
What furniture should we offer?
Armchairs, chairs, benches, tables, desks, sideboards, wardrobes, and furniture sets: a single piece or a collection preserved within a family can be the subject of study. DIZAGN is particularly interested in creations by Joseph Savina, Gaston Sébilleau, Georges Rual, Jeanne Malivel, René-Yves Creston, Paul Fouillen, Robert Micheau-Vernez, Jim Sévellec, and Jean Lachaud.
Identify the creator and the workshop
The study distinguishes between the design of the piece of furniture, its manufacture, and its decoration. A signature, a label, an assembly, or an old photograph can contribute to identification. Attribution is based on an examination of the piece and on documented comparisons; a stylistic similarity is not sufficient to confirm an author.
Expertise and purchasing: two distinct processes
An appraisal aims to identify, document, and evaluate an object according to your needs. If you wish to sell, DIZAGN can also consider an acquisition. Any purchase offer is presented separately from the appraisal and depends on the item's appeal, its condition, and available information.
