Xavier Matégot (born 1956), set of six model XM7 folding chairs from the XM range, produced by Christian Farjon, France, circa 1985. Chromed and brushed metal, black lacquered plywood and white plastic. Manufacturer’s plaque on the reverse of the backrest. Dimensions: height 87 cm, width 55 cm, depth 55 cm.
Background
The XM7 model combines a tubular metal frame with a seat and backrest featuring a very graphic design. Its folding mechanism meets the demand for mobility and a compact footprint, while the black, white and metal contrast gives it a presence characteristic of 1980s design.

Biography
Xavier Matégot, born in 1956, developed furniture with a postmodern vocabulary in the 1980s, where metal structures, lacquered surfaces and plastic elements are combined in light and functional compositions. The XM7 model, produced by Christian Farjon, is one of the documented examples of this output.
