The Musée Fabre in Montpellier is dedicating an exhibition to Pierre Paulin (1927–2009), open from 27 June to 1 November 2026. “Le design selon Pierre Paulin” (Design according to Pierre Paulin) spans more than half a century of creative work and is the museum’s first exhibition devoted to twentieth-century design.

The Élysée smoking room and the Vidéo Barnum, highlighted in DIZAGN’s LinkedIn post, show two ways of conceiving furniture as a space to inhabit.
The exhibition traces an approach that goes beyond the history of a few celebrated armchairs. Paulin’s explorations of the body, seating, colour and upholstery intersect with his work at the scale of an interior or a public commission. His supple forms are more than an aesthetic vocabulary: they transform the way we inhabit and perceive space.
Considering these works together helps reveal the relationship between design, manufacture and use. It is also an opportunity to place collectible pieces within a wider trajectory, where furniture engages with interior architecture and the material culture of its time.
DIZAGN offers rare pieces by Pierre Paulin for sale. Their presence in the gallery’s selection extends, at the scale of each object, the exhibition’s attention to designs, production editions and their history.
