Olivier Mourgue (born 1939), model 2093 lamp, produced by Disderot, France, 1967. Rare white version in lacquered metal, anodised aluminium and chromed metal, with a silver-crowned bulb. Dimensions: height 80 cm, base diameter 25 cm.

Background

Model 2093 belongs to the series of floral lighting designed by Olivier Mourgue for Ateliers Disderot in 1967. The range uses a reflector composed of aluminium petals arranged around a silver-crowned bulb, mounted on an exceptionally light metal structure.

Biography

Olivier Mourgue is a French designer born in 1939. Trained at the École Boulle and later at the Arts Décoratifs, from the late 1950s he developed furniture and lighting with organic, experimental forms. He is particularly known for the Joker, Whist, Djinn and Montréal series and for his collaborations with Airborne and Disderot.
