Background
Designed in 1907 for the Avery Coonley House in Riverside, Illinois, the “Coonley 2” chair belongs to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie School period. Its tall back with vertical uprights extends the geometric vocabulary of the architecture and reflects his desire to unify furniture, space and decoration. Reissued by Cassina in the collection I Maestri, it is made of solid wood with an upholstered seat.

Biography
Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1959) was an American architect and designer, a leading figure of the Prairie School and an advocate of organic architecture. In his projects, he frequently conceived architecture, furniture and decoration as a coherent whole, a principle exemplified by the Avery Coonley House.
