Joseph-André Motte (1925–2013)
After graduating at the top of his class at the Ecole des Arts Appliqués in 1948, after having attended the classes of René Gabriel and Louis Sognot, he was hired by Jacques Guénot at the Bon Marché art studio before joining Marcel Gascoin in 1952.
Silver medal at the Milan Triennial in 1949, he is member of Group 4 with Alain Richard, René Jean Caillette, Geneviève Dangles for Charron editor in 1953 and of the A.R.P. (Atelier de Recherches Plastiques) with Michel Mortier and Pierre Guariche from 1954 to 1957.
Joseph-André Motte contributes to Steiner's success by designing several chairs models such as the "770" series.
He worked on important public projects such as the development of Orly airport, Roissy, Lyon Satolas and Octeville. The marine station of Le Havre, Cergy Pontoise prefecture, the Grenoble city hall or the Council of Europe in Strasbourg are other projects in which he excels.
