Biography:
Jean-Pierre Laporte discovered the world of design in the workshops of Thonet France, where his father was a representative. There, he rubbed shoulders with Pierre Paulin, who instilled in him a taste for research and furniture design. A graduate of the Ecole Boulle and ENSAD, he worked with Marc Held and Pierre Guariche before setting up his own design office in 1969.
Jean-Pierre Laporte designed several chair models in plywood published by Thonet, then experimented with the properties of new plastic materials by creating sculptural works exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs (SAD) until 1975.
In 1976, he moved to Dreux and set up EBAD (Etudier-Bâtir-Agencer-Décorer), a major furniture and finishings factory. For over 30 years, he worked with interior design agencies and renowned designers (Marc Alessandri, Jean-Louis Berthet, Michel Boyer, Michel Cadestin...). Today, he devotes himself to publishing his emblematic creations, which have joined the collections of major museums and galleries.
