Description

The Concorde pendant lamp is distinguished by a curved aluminium shell that concentrates the design into a simple, compact and highly graphic form. The exposed metal and geometry of the reflector correspond to the modernist vocabulary developed by RAAK in its lighting of this period.

Context

Founded in the Netherlands, RAAK became known in the 20th century for lighting that made extensive use of metal, glass and experimental forms. The Concorde model belongs to this Dutch production of the 1970s, when lighting became as much a sculptural element of space as a functional object.
