Ingo Maurer (1932-) « Horny Philippe » lamp - 1998

" Horny Philippe " Lamp- 1998

Black anodized metal. H 55 cm

This lamp, a tribute to Philippe Starck, was made in four copies, each with a different finish. The version presented in black anodized metal is unique. The other three copies of this lamp remain in Ingo Maurer's personal collection. When Germany's greatest lighting designer pays tribute to the pope of French design, he does so with humor. A humor that underlies both Maurer's and Starck's work.

Starck who loves Maurer who loves Starck who loves Maurer! Horny Philippe was presented during a staging at the Cologne Furniture Fair. A woman who appeared to be naked, lying on a waterbed, played with a few Horny Philippe pieces. The visitors were all wearing masks featuring Starck, with two horns in their hair.
