\nIn the 18th century, Jean Bernard De Bruyn already ran a pottery in Louvain, Belgium.
\nAfter his death in 1805, his son Martin De Bruyn ran the earthenware factory, which he then passed on to his son Denis De Bruyn.
\nC\u2019est Antoine Gustave De Bruyn, fils de Denis, qui s\u2019installe \u00e0 Fives en 1864.
\nD\u2019abord install\u00e9 rue de Juliers, il d\u00e9m\u00e9nage rue de Malakoff, avant d\u2019\u00e9lire domicile rue de l\u2019Esp\u00e9rance au n\u00b022. C\u2019est \u00e0 cette adresse qu\u2019est construite la fa\u00efencerie.
\nA partir de 1887 apparaissent les premi\u00e8res \u00ab barbotines d\u00e9cor\u00e9es \u00bb de la fa\u00efencerie De Bruyn \u00e0 Fives-Lille : des cache-pots, pichets, pots \u00e0 tabac mais aussi jardini\u00e8res et vases, dessusde chemin\u00e9es, porte-parapluies.
\nEt en 1889 De Bruyn est r\u00e9compens\u00e9 d\u2019une m\u00e9daille \u00e0 l\u2019Exposition Universelle de Paris.
\nEn 1917, un incendie ravage l\u2019usine, et d\u00e9sorganise fortement la production.
\nSi au d\u00e9but du XX \u00e8me si\u00e8cle, la fa\u00efencerie employait quelques 150 ouvriers et s\u2019\u00e9tendait sur environ 1.4 hectare, elle en compte jusqu\u2019\u00e0 400 \u00e0 l\u2019aube de la Premi\u00e8re Guerre Mondiale. Vendue dans les ann\u00e9es 1950, la fa\u00efencerie continue \u00e0 produire avant d\u2019\u00eatre d\u00e9finitivement ferm\u00e9e en 1962.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
