ARC\u2013Mobilier National collection, inventory no. GMT-22591-014. The model was commissioned for the reception room of the French pavilion at Expo 67 in Montreal.<\/p>\n

The prototypes were developed and executed by the Atelier de Recherche et de Cr\u00e9ation from Olivier Mourgue\u2019s drawings. The first production run was entrusted to Airborne: thirty armchairs, ten ottomans and six coffee tables bearing the \u201cMobilier national\u201d label.<\/p>\n

Biography<\/strong><\/p>\n

A graduate of the \u00c9cole Boulle and later a student at the \u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Arts D\u00e9coratifs, Olivier Mourgue (born 1939) designed the Joker range for Airborne from 1959. His collaboration with the manufacturer continued for nearly twenty years through the Whist, Djinn, Montr\u00e9al and Bouloum series.<\/p>\n

Close to Jean Coural, he also worked with the Atelier de Recherche et Cr\u00e9ation of the Mobilier National and, together with Pierre Paulin, contributed to the design of the cafeteria at the Maison de la Culture in Rennes.<\/p>\n
